What Happens After You Hit Submit
A submitter asked what happens after they pay for a Jukebox submission. Fair question, and it deserves one answer in one place. Here's the whole cycle, in order.
Every track gets heard in full
You can submit any time. I listen to every track start to finish. Nothing gets judged on its first few seconds.
The calendar
Submissions close the second Friday of the month. Features publish the third Friday.
For October, that means submissions close Friday, October 9, and features publish Friday, October 16.
Anything that arrives after the close rolls into the next month's cycle automatically.
Features
Each cycle, up to five tracks get featured. A feature is a real written post about the song on the Jukebox blog.
Five is the ceiling. If fewer tracks earn a feature, fewer get one.
Playlists
There are two ways a song ends up on one of the playlists.
Featured. The song gets its written post on the Jukebox blog, plus a playlist add if it fits one.
Playlist add only. A song can land on a fitting playlist without being one of the features.
A feature and a playlist spot are separate calls. Both paths require the song to be released on Spotify, since that's where the playlists live. If you have a Spotify link, submit that one.
What you get back
$30 tier: individual written feedback on your track, delivered on publish day, win or lose.
$8 tier: the collective note, which covers what separated the tracks that held attention.
What payment doesn't do
Payment never influences selection. That goes for both tiers. The money pays for the listen and the feedback that comes with your tier, and the decision gets made on the song.
October closes tomorrow.
