Doug Andersen, "Oh Daytona"
Some songs are written for a room. This one was written for a parking lot full of RVs in February.
In Doug's words
I personally wrote the lyrics for this song. It's a tribute to the Great American Race, the Daytona 500. I think it captures the emotion and excitement surrounding this very historic race that happens every February.
What I heard
This is perfect for the Daytona 500 celebrations. I can hear it cranked up at the tailgates right there in the infield lot, pouring out of the RVs and the trucks. It's hard-driving and it doesn't let up, but it never overwhelms either. It has the right mix of power and space, which, as it happens, is also what you need to win the race. Southern country rock with a red dirt streak, and it wears it well.
Where to find it
"Oh Daytona" is out on YouTube now. If it lands on Spotify, it has a spot waiting on Cold Ones: Modern Country.
